Rev. David D Colby

David, Laura, & CalvinIn Sept. 2008, the congregation elected Dr. Colby to serve as Central’s first installed (“permanent”) pastor since the early 1990s. He began at Central in February, 2005 in a four year designated pastorate to help Central live or die. Having experienced much growth in membership and identity, the church is poised for a new chapter.

David has his roots in the Saint Paul area, having grown up in Roseville. He is a graduate of Roseville Area High School, Macalester College, McCormick Seminary, and Columbia Theological Seminary, where he received his Doctor of Ministry degree with a research project entitled, “Gen X Goes to Church.”

Prior to his arrival at Central, he served as the Interim Associate Pastor at Macalester Plymouth United Church in St. Paul for eighteen months. From 1997 - 2003, he served as the Associate Pastor for Youth and Children at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware. David is involved in the larger church, serving on presbytery council and as a member of board of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians.

David, his wife Laura Clay, and their daughter Amaya love living in Saint Paul. Hobbies include reading, tennis, cross-country skiing, and backpacking.
