Wendy Slade started at Central Presbyterian Church in September 2006 as the Interim Office Manager. She has over sixteen years experience in office management. In 2003 she started volunteering at a local hospital as a doula (a professional birthing coach), which has taught her that we receive so much more when we give freely of ourselves. In the spring of 2005 she started volunteer tutoring English as a Second Language at FIRE, and realized she was on to something. After completing her degree in social sciences in 2006 she decided she needed to work in the non-profit industry. Her connections at FIRE helped her find this position at Central Presbyterian Church, and she is ever grateful for that path.
She married John Slade in May 2000 and in February 2006 they got a boxer puppy named TaTonka (Lakota for buffalo) and have been having the best time raising her. She has brought such joy and excitement to their lives. They hope to add children to their family soon by adopting from Nepal.
Wendy grew up a Navy brat, moving from one warm place to another, so winters are something she’s still coping with. In her spare time she loves traveling domestically and internationally, gardening, reading and spending time with her niece and nephew.
Wendy is extremely excited to be here at Central, meeting all the wonderful members and friends, and feeling welcomed every day.
